Aim for a healthy weight
Being very underweight or overweight can disturb ovulation. Even a small weight loss can restore regular periods in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Stop smoking and limit alcohol
Both reduce fertility in women and men, and increase miscarriage risk.
Know your fertile days
In a regular 28-day cycle, the most fertile days are around days 12 to 16. Having sex every two to three days through the cycle covers the fertile window without the stress of timing.
Start folic acid
Women trying to conceive should take folic acid daily to reduce the risk of some birth defects.
